Starin's Glen Island

Starin's Glen Island was a 105-acre waterfront summer resort developed by shipping magnate John H. Starin on Glen Island in New Rochelle, New York during the late 19th century, pioneering the concept of the American theme park with its design featuring representations of five Western cultures distributed across linked islands. Though the original resort declined, the site later became Glen Island Park and housed the Glen Island Casino, which gained prominence as a major Big Band Era venue in the 1930s.
